Valerie Howlett is a comprehensive source of knowledge helping clients who are Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing achieve solid success and results for over thirty years. She has acted as liaison between many Corporate and Ministry Programs providing accessibility for clients who are Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing. Over the years she has acquired extensive training and strong Public Relations skills, providing consultation and provision of hearing assistive devices. She received expert training from the United Way and served on their Speaker's Bureau for several years. She has achieved proficiency in American Sign Language.
Over the years, Stephanie and Valerie have had a variety of successful collaborations with many well-established organisations, such as the Toronto District and Catholic District School Boards, Toronto Police Services, JOIN, George Brown College, Ontario Disability Employment Network, CNIB, Silent Voice Canada, the Toronto Central LHIN, the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association and the Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence, to name a few.
Stephanie Ozorio is a professional, solution-focussed accessibility specialist and a passionate advocate for clear and accessible communication for all. She strongly believes in viewing all people through the lens of inclusion and possibilities.
With over 30 years in the not-for-profit sector working with persons with disabilities, Stephanie understands what is needed to break down barriers to accessibility. She has seen the devastating experience of separation and isolation that barriers to communication have on people, no matter what their age or walk of life. She has also witnessed the healing, growth and opportunities that are possible when the doors of clear and accessible communication are open.
Stephanie holds a Bachelors of Applied Arts in Social Work, with a Certificate in the Psychology of Human Relations from Ryerson University. Her other educational accomplishments include training in AODA Compliance, Anti-Oppression, Anti-Racism, Anti-Ableism, Anti-Harassment and Anti-Audism, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Anti-Violence & Harrassment in the Workplace, as well as a certificate in Effective Public Speaking from CLC National.
